Almost Famous House Salad:
Strawberry Tossed Salad with Cranberry-Blood Orange Vinaigrette
For the Salad:
Mixed salad greens (or preferred variety)
Sliced strawberries
Sliced red onion
Candied walnuts or pecans
Herbed feta crumbles
Dried cranberries
Seasoned croutons
For the Vinaigrette:
⅔ cup BLOOD ORANGE or NAVEL ORANGE OLIVE OIL*
⅓ cup CRANBERRY PEAR BALSAMIC*
1 tsp Dijon mustard
¼ tsp garlic powder or 1 tsp BREAD DIP SEASONING*
pinch of salt
pinch of freshly ground pepper
DIRECTIONS:
Excluding the olive oil, mix vinaigrette ingredients together, then slowly whisk in the olive oil. Alternately, combine all ingredients in a jar, secure lid and shake well. (Stir/shake to recombine as needed) Stores in refrigerator for about 2 weeks.
Place salad ingredients in a chilled salad bowl. Drizzle with desired amount of vinaigrette and toss to coat. Garnish salad with small amounts of each topping. Serve immediately. Alternately, serve with dressing on the side.
NOTE: This vinaigrette is also fabulous as a marinade for vegetables, chicken, pork, fish and other seafood!
